Introduction
The Department of Immunology at the University of Health Sciences is part of the basic medical sciences division and is made up of faculty that are experts in both basic and clinical immunology. The department's research focuses on host-pathogen interactions, particularly pathogens that have an impact on the health and well-being in the country. The department currently offers M. Phil. and Ph. D. degree programs.
Objectives
Set benchmark for high-quality education and research in basic and clinical immunology. Develop collaborative interactions with scientists conducting cutting-edge research within as well as outside the country. Train students in modern principles of research and provide an encouraging and stimulating environment to foster learning in the discipline of immunology. Disseminate up-to-date knowledge of immunology by organizing journal clubs, seminars and symposia.

Facilities
The Department of Immunology features a state-of-the-art laboratory equipped with the newest immunological research tools. Currently, the laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge research tools such as a flow cytometer, cell sorter, ELISA, real-time PCR, immunofluorescent microscopy, gel documentation system, electrophoresis system, inverted microscope, spectrophotometer, biological safety cabinet, western blotting, pulsed field electrophoresis and access to sanger and next generation sequencing facilities etc.
Future Plans
We hope to develop a core facility to support immunology research and diagnostics, with a particular emphasis on establishing a vaccine development center and producing monoclonal antibodies.
